Requirements:

SDR Control Mobile can be used for the following Icom Radios:

  • IC-705
  • IC-9700
  • IC-7610
  • IC-R8600

USB Connections or other Transceivers are not supported.

The App runs on any iPhone from iPhone SE to any iPhone Max Pro model that is running the newest iOS release. The App also strives to maintain backward compatibility with older iOS versions wherever possible. If your iPhone isn’t updated to the latest iOS version, please verify the App’s compatibility on the App Store. There is no other relevant requirement. This App is no catalyst App and it was developed and designed specifically for the iPhone.

In order to access your Radio from the Internet from a remote location, certain settings in your Router (explained in the Manual) are necessary for Data passing to and from the Transceiver.

If you have purchased the App once from the AppStore (thank you!) you can run it on several additional iPhones with any number of Icom Transceivers you own. No additional purchase is necessary. You only have to use one and the same Apple ID on all your iPhones.

Questions and answers:

Q:

Why is there an iPhone and an iPad App. Other Apps can run on iPhones as well as iPads.

A:

That’s true. However, SDR-Control has a completely different design on both device types which are quite different. An iPad has a much larger screen which allows to show all necessary controls, including a Waterfall, at once. This is not possible on iPhones where several controls have been moved to scrollable areas or on different screens. The iPad and iPhone Apps are just sharing about 10% of their Screens (of course, under the hood, for instance the FT8 encoder/decoder are the same). These screens also need to be tested (with every update) on all available device sizes from an iPhone SE up to an iPhone Max. For this reason, the iPhone App has been developed as separate App.

Q:

I am already using and have paid for your App for my iPad (or my Mac). Do I have to pay again if I like to use your iPhone Version?

A:

First off thank you! Unfortunately, there is no way to offer some kind of discount for this App in case you have already purchased one of my other Apps so yes, you would have to pay the full amount for the iOS App. Sorry.

Q:

I have purchased your App for my iPhone. Now, I like to use the App on another iPhone. Do I have to pay again?

A:

Thank you! No, when you buy an app from the Apple App Store, you can use it on many iPhones without having to pay a second time. Please note that you have to use the same Apple ID on the App Store to download the app that you used to buy the app originally.

Q:

I have more than one Icom Transceiver. Can I use the App for multiple Transceivers?

A:

Yes, you can use the App with multiple Transceivers but you can only use it with one at a time per iPhone.

Q:

Why is there no waterfall?

A:

A waterfall simply doesn’t fit on the small iPhone screen along with the necessary controls to maintain the Radio.

Q:

Does the iPhone App have different features compared to the iPad or macOS App?

A:

Yes it does. Please see the feature comparison further below

Q:

Where can I get support in case of issues?

A:

For this, all of my Apps have a “Contact Developer” button in the “Information & Support” section of the Settings tab.

Q:

Is there a Manual for the App?
