Questions and answers:

Q:

I don’t have a SCU-LAN Interface, can I use the App without it, maybe via USB?

A:

No, different to other Brands, YAESU Radios don’t provide the necessary information and data needed for the App via USB. The only way for FT-Control to connect to a YAESU Radio is by adding a SCU-LAN Interface to the Radio. This SCU-LAN interface basically adds a Network interface to YAESU Radios which is sometimes already included in other Radios.YAESUs approach is that users who solely want to operate their Radios directly by the buttons and wheels at the front panel would are saving money as they don’t have to pay for an interface they don’t need.

Q:

I have several YAESU Radios, do I need more than one SCU-LAN Interface?

A:

Yes, each Radio needs it’s own SCU-LAN Interface.

Q:

I have paid for this App and like to use it on another Mac. Do I have to pay again?

A:

No, once paid for a Mac App it can be used on several Macs which are using the same Apple ID.

Q:

I have paid for this App and like to use it on my iPad, is that possible ?

A:

No, this App has been developed and designed for the Mac with features that are only possible on a desktop computer like a Mac.

Q:

I have more than one YAESU Transceiver. Can I use the App for multiple Transceivers?

A:

Yes, you can use the App with multiple Transceivers but you can only use it with one at a time.

Q:

Why are only a few YAESU Transceivers supported?

A:

First, the supported Transceivers needs to offer certain features for the communication to the App including support of YAESUs SCU-LAN Interface. Some older YAESU Transceivers don’t support this. And finally, I have to own the Transceiver for development, testing and support. In case YAESU would add SCU-LAN support for more Transceivers like they recently did for the FT-710, I will buy one and see it can support it as well.

Q:

Can I use external Software like fldigi or wsjt-x along with FT-Control for YAESU?

A:

Yes, the App includes a Radio-Server feature which can be used to interface with any App that supports network CAT such as RigCtl / Hamlib or Kenwood CAT over the network and selectable Audio devices.

Q:

Are the nice 3DSS Panadapter and analog Meters supported?

A:

No and there are no plans to support them. The reason is, they don’t provide any additional benefit or advantage.

Q:

Where can I buy FT-Control for YAESU?

A:

The App is only available on Apple’s Mac AppStore

Q:

Where can I get support in case of issues?

A:

For this, all of my Apps have a “Contact Developer” button in the “Information & Support” section of the Settings Menu.

Q:

Is there a Manual for the App?
